TANK MAASS
I was born and raised in the Greater Houston area and moved away when I was 22. I made my way to California and started moving around wherever the wind blew. I started tattooing and piercing around 2003 in Waco, TX. I had a short and rather crappy apprenticeship, which led to some struggles in making advancements, but I managed while continuing to work full-time various jobs, from being an EMT, working at Boeing/NASA in the aerospace industry, then a process technician, and finally a Diaper manufacturing production manager in 2010. In 2023 decided to step away from everything else and started focusing solely on my passions and career as an artist. I enjoy a challenge and love intricate details, but I get the most excitement from black and gray realism and anything with a horror vibe or a dark and macabre aesthetic.
Death is inevitable, and the struggles along the path to that end are what we call life. Lately, I have been working with some clients who struggle with mental health disorders. That have strayed from walking the short path, and I try to capture their struggles in their tattoos with my spin on it in hopes of helping them heal.
